Wendy asked me to have a conversation with her about masking, which is a topic that comes up frequently in conversations about neurodiversity. Neurodivergent Lying: Avoidant or Toxic?
Tuesday Oct 18, 2022
Tuesday Oct 18, 2022
BONUS podcast: Let's talk about lying. There are a lot of reasons why everybody lies. Neurodivergent partners have specific reasons why they lie, and sometimes it's different from the reasons why neurotypical partners lie.
It's important to look for toxic types of lies that are strategic and intended to harm or that inflate one's ego at the expense of others. These are different from the avoidant types of lies that range from "little white lies" to fear and avoidance of consequences or a partner's response or reaction.
If there is a lot of lying in your relationship and you need some help figuring it out, you can book a consultation to speak with me directly to get some answers. My coaching program is designed to help you get clarity and solutions for a better life.

Spiritual Abuse in Neurodiverse Relationships
Tuesday Sep 13, 2022
Tuesday Sep 13, 2022
When a person's faith and spiritual values are used to coerce, convince, or control and manipulate, devastating harm is done. Weaponized faith is all too common, and I see the trauma it causes in so many of the men and women who contact me for help. "Scripts" about the roles of men and women, and husbands and wives, are often conveyed by well-meaning religious leaders, but then, in the neurodivergent community, applied rigidly in a relationship. Both partners often participate in reinforcing a coercive and controlling dynamic that utilizes shame, guilt, and obligation to get one or both partner's needs met - both believing they are following the beliefs of their faith. This relationship is ultimately highly dysfunctional, and can become toxic and abusive. Take a moment to listen to my conversation with Dan and Stephanie Holmes, who are Christian neurodiverse relationship specialists. This concept applies to people of all faiths and value-systems because these same dynamics occur in any relationship where beliefs and values are used to manipulate.

Neurodiversity Challenges in Christian Marriages
Tuesday Aug 30, 2022
Tuesday Aug 30, 2022
I am frequently asked the question "How do I stay committed to my Christian values of being compassionate and selfless without losing myself and my identity - especially when my autistic partner doesn't believe my needs are valid?"
I recently had a Q & A with Dan and Stephanie Holmes where we talk about this and so much more. Dan and Stephanie founded the International Association of NeuroDiverse Christian Marriages, LLC to bring hope, help, and possible healing to NeuroDiverse Christian Marriages. Their ministry also includes educating and equipping helping professionals, clinicians, and ministers with effective coaching and counseling strategies by first understanding and accepting the complexities of NeuroDiverse Christian Marriages. How To Thrive in Neurodiverse Friendships
Tuesday Jul 26, 2022
Tuesday Jul 26, 2022
I am really, really excited today to have my best friend Kathy, on the show. She is the last of the mini series this summer on communication and of me sharing my neurodiverse family and friends with you.
This two-part episode is one of my favorite yet because Kathy and I talk about so much! There's so much packed into these two episodes. Kathy and I talk about our own friendship, which is a neurodiverse relationship. We talk about her family of very different neurodiverse personalities...and as best friends do she even calls me out on something that's actually really important! We have a very good conversation about it that's going to be very relatable to so, so many of you. You're going to want to listen up to hear what we have to say about that. Kathy also has some amazing insight as well about being neurodiverse, herself, and the mother of two neurodiverse children who are practically grown now themselves. She shares the strategies that she's used to parent them and help them in their lives even as she's realized later in life that she's neurodiverse herself.
